Kiwi Camping Tours enables you to see New Zealand as it should be seen. We can take you to all the famous spots of the South Island encompassing Queenstown, the Abel Tasman, Fox Glacier, Nelson and such attractions as the renowned "Pancake Rocks", whale watching in Kaikoura, swimming with dolphins, and even the thrill of bungy jumping. The tours give opportunity for biking on mountain treks, kayaking in pristine lakes, or walking through some of this country's beautiful native bush (forests) and golden beaches. And you can experience some of the country's rich cultural heritage such as a genuine Maori concert.

Tour Itenaries

All itineraries subject to change due to weather

Trip One

MONDAY - DAY 1 (depart 8.00a.m)
We take a slow trip through the Alps, stopping at Cave Stream for morning tea.

Lunch at Arthur’s Pass, walk the Avalanche Peak track and have lunch (Bad weather option to stay in the mountains). Drive via the scenic route pass to Lake Brunner to the Coast. We camp around Punakaiki.

TUESDAY - DAY 2
Spend the day checking out the famous Pancake Rocks, kayaking, up the majestic Pororari River walks, and an option of horse riding or dolphin swimming. We spend the night at the same spot.

WEDNESDAY - DAY 3
On route to Abel Tasman, stop for a coastal walk to view the seal colony at Westport.

Make our way slowly through the Buller Gorge, stopping off for lunch and a game of touch rugby. (Bad weather option: spend the night on the Mot river i.e.1 hour away from Kaiteriteri). Arrive Kaiteriteri around 3 o'clock for the boat pickup; drop off at Bark Bay in the famous Abel Tasman National Park camp close by.

THURSDAY - DAY 4
Spend the day walking / kayaking to Anchorage Bay (probably the nicest area of the park) with swims along the way. The more adventurous can walk up to Cleopatra’s pool.

Camp out the night hopefully with fresh seafood for tea.

FRIDAY - DAY 5
Boat picks up for a short ride, make our way back to Nelson for a free day or come for a swim in the river / sea. In the evening we go out on the town to a good restaurant (at your own cost). That night we stay at one of the oldest buildings in Nelson now running as a bed & breakfast.

SATURDAY - DAY 6
Early depart, stop at beautiful Perlous Bridge; morning tea. One winery stop. On to Kaikoura (the name means "to eat crayfish") for lunch. Paua and fish (maybe crayfish if we're lucky) for tea.

SUNDAY - DAY 7
Early morning swimming with the dolphins (whale option). Lunch on route. The tour ends with an exciting Maori Concert that night (Christchurch).

Driver will help organise accommodation. Tour 2 starts the following day.

Trip Two

MONDAY - DAY 1 (or DAY 8)
Depart 9.00 on same as Trip 1 (those who have been on Trip1 get a scenic train trip), although we stay at Hari-hari. Check out Greenstone factory on the way. That evening soak in the hot pools.

TUESDAY - DAY 2 (or 9)
Make our way to Okartio for kayaking; visit the spectacular White Heron, walk the coastal tracks (views of Mt.Cook); Afternoon walk on Fox Glacier if weather fine. Spend the night at Fox.

WEDNESDAY - DAY 3 (or 10)
L. Matheson early. (Glacier walk option depending on weather previous day). Make way slowly to Lake Hawea. Lots to see along the way. Night at Lake Hawea

THURSDAY - DAY 4 (or 11)
On route to Queenstown, stop at Bungi Bridge where the first ever commercially run bungi operation started and the only one which will permit you to hit the water.

Queenstown, the adventure capital of the world! The driver will help with the organisation of your activities. Say goodbye to those ending the tour at this point. Group meal out (own expense).

FRIDAY - DAY 5 (or 12)
Free day (no meals provided except breakfast). Those who are around are welcome to come for a ride to quaint little Arrowtown, where we will visit the old miner’s cottages and have a game of touch rugby.

SATURDAY - DAY 6 (or 13)
Early to Mt.Cook, fruit stop along the way. Walk to the lakes to see the glaciers. Stay in the Mt. Cook area depending on weather. Over night at Lake Pukaki.

SUNDAY - DAY 7 (or 14)
Make our way to Geraldine (morning tea at Lake Tekapo) for Excelerating Rangatata Rafts. Tour ends approx 7:30 p.m at Christchurch. Evening meal included.
